FUNDING

 

HUMAN RESOURCES

Human resources are made of :

  • 20 interns under training process
  • 1 pharmacist

     

 

 

     

  • 40 ophthalmic nurses (22 in their first year of training, 18 in their second year)
  • 5 cataract surgeons
  • 24 technical agents
  • 8 administrative agents.

 

  • 8 ophthalmologists and 1 anaesthesiologist, among which 6 Technical Assistants supported by the French Ministry of Co-operation and Development

     

     

     

INFRASTUCTURE

The Institute controls 5,000 m2 of local divisions on 4 levels in 2 buildings with :

  • 3 surgical theatres equipped for all ophthalmological operations (anterior and posterior segments)
  • 60 hospital beds
  • a triage room
  • 10 consultation rooms
  • a department of functional exploration with visual field, ERG, EVP, Lancaster, vision of colours, angiography, solid state laser and yag, A and B scan
  • a laboratory for analysis
  • a computing department, equipped with computers, scanner, CD-ROM, and laser printers
  • a training centre, notably including a wet lab
  • a library with a documentation centre
  • a spectacles workshop
  • an operational section with 3 vehicles, (4x4s) and a specially adapted off-road truck.

     

Thanks to this technical level, IOTA will from this time, be at its patients’ service, in the sub-region, in all of ocular pathology.

FUNDING

Funding is as the results of :

  • daily incomes (cost recovery)
  • member states contributions
  • subsidies
  • research projects
  • donations, grants.
